Biography

Mike Pascoe began his Aikido training in 2001 at the age of 12 at Utah Aikikai under Rick Berardini Sensei. In 2003, Mike was awarded the rank of 3rd kyu and became the first Deshi at Utah Aikikai under Berardini Sensei. At the age of 14, Mike started teaching children’s, beginner adult’s, and weapons classes at Utah Aikikai.

In 2005, Mike started co-teaching an after-school children's Aikido class at the Kaysville Recreation Center through America’s Youth Martial Arts. In 2007 Mike took over as the sole Aikido instructor at this location. There are currently over 80 children and adults enrolled in his weekly classes.

In 2008 Mike was awarded the rank of Shodan by Frank Doran Sensei through the California Aikido Association. In 2009 Utah Aikikai became part of the Aikido Association of America and Mike extended his training with Christine Dyer Sensei and James Nakayama Sensei. In 2010 Mike was awarded the rank of Nidan by James Nakayama Sensei.

In 2017 Mike joined Aikido Mountain West after Rick Berardini's retirement as Dojocho and the closing of Utah Aikikai. Mike is currently teaching the Monday night weapons class.
